Affiliate disclosure.

How RecoveryStack makes money, what we disclose, and why our recommendations are still independent.

The short version

RecoveryStack participates in affiliate programs. When you click a link to a product on our site and make a purchase, we may earn a commission. This is at no additional cost to you.

This is how we fund the site, buy the products we review, and avoid sponsored content or display advertising.

Our reviews and recommendations are not influenced by affiliate relationships. We recommend the products we believe are best for you, regardless of which pay us more.

The detailed version

What affiliate programs we participate in

RecoveryStack is a participant in:

  • Amazon Associates Program — an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com
  • Direct brand affiliate programs including (but not limited to): Plunge, Ice Barrel, Sun Home Saunas, Higher Dose, Joovv, Mito Red, BON CHARGE, Oura, Whoop, Eight Sleep, Function Health, InsideTracker, Momentous, Thorne, Tru Niagen, Hims & Hers, Ro
  • Affiliate networks including ShareASale, Impact Radius, AvantLink, Awin, and others

A complete current list is available upon request.

How affiliate links work

When you click a link from RecoveryStack to a third-party retailer, your browser sends a small piece of identifying information (a cookie or tracking parameter) along with you. If you complete a purchase at the destination retailer within their cookie window (usually 24 hours to 30 days, depending on retailer), we may receive a commission.

The commission is paid by the retailer, not by you. You pay the same price you would pay if you arrived at the retailer through any other means.

Commission rates we receive

Commission rates vary by retailer and product category:

  • Amazon Associates: typically 2-4%, capped per product category
  • Direct affiliate programs for hardware (cold plunges, saunas): typically 5-10%
  • Wearables and devices: typically 5-15%
  • Supplements: typically 15-30% (often with recurring commissions on subscription products)
  • Telehealth and testing services: typically $50-150 flat per qualified signup

These rates are negotiated independently and do not influence our editorial decisions.

What does NOT happen on RecoveryStack

We want to be specific about what affiliate funding does NOT mean for our editorial:

  1. We are not paid for positive reviews. No brand has paid us to write a favorable review of their product. If a brand offered, we would decline.
  1. We are not paid for product placement. We choose which products to cover based on relevance to our readers, not based on which brands have approached us.
  1. We do not accept "sponsored posts." Every article on RecoveryStack is editorially independent. We do not publish content paid for by brands.
  1. We are not "incentivized to lie." Higher-commission products are not given preferential treatment. When a $40-commission product is better than a $500-commission product, we say so.
  1. We do not hide negative reviews. If a product we have an affiliate relationship with doesn't deliver, we publish the negative review anyway and remove our affiliate link.

Product purchases for review

Most products reviewed on RecoveryStack are purchased by us at full retail price. We do not accept free products in exchange for reviews.

In rare cases where a manufacturer provides a unit for testing, we either pay for it after testing (converting it to a normal purchase) or return it and clearly disclose the temporary loan at the top of the review.

We will never publish a review based on a free product without disclosing it.

FTC compliance

This disclosure complies with the United States Federal Trade Commission's 16 CFR Part 255: "Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising."

We disclose material connections to products and brands we discuss. We disclose at the top of every monetized article, in our footer on every page, and on this dedicated disclosure page.

Reader trust commitment

If you ever feel a recommendation on RecoveryStack appears commercially motivated rather than reader-motivated, please email editorial@recoverystack.co. We take this seriously and will review every reader concern.
